Summer Camp 2010
Dear Parents,
Hereby we would like to give you some more information about the Plum Pudding Summer Camp. It will be organized between 30th June-30th July and 16th August – 31st August. Children can take part in the activities throughout the whole summer, not necessarily on a regular basis, but occasionally as well. One day of the week will be organized as a NATIONALITY DAY. On these special days the children will be acquainted with the costumes and habits of certain nations.
SWEDISH DAY
- Celebrating Santa Lucia and the Swedish Christmas (the most important Swedish holidays)
- Making a Dala Horse, a typical Swedish decoration
- Talking about the Vikings, „putting together” a little Viking
- Learning a Swedish song: Sol ute, Sol inne (Sun out, Sun in)
- ABBA disco!
- Swedish food all day long
- Swedish coloring pages
JAMAICAN DAY
- Saying greetings in Jamaican English (Creol - slangs)
- Athletic games: running with or without objects in hands „Daddy Shandy” (ball game)
- Listening to reggeeton and funky music
- American, English and African custumes
- Rhyme: „Fraid fi go a Jam Down”
MADAGASCAR DAY
- Few words about the unique fauna and flora
- Playing a game called „catch the lemur”
- Making a „Boabab tree” which is unique in Madagascar
- Story about the „Mixed-up chameleon”
- Colouring pages from the movie „Madagascar”
- Lunch: tasting a typical malagasy meal made of rice, chicken and coconut „Akoho sy voanio”
ARGENTIN DAY
- Information about Argentina
- Learning an Argentinian song in Spanish
- Story about the sunflower, then making one
- Typical Argentine food, including apple soup and grape juice
- Treasure hunting: looking for silver in the garden
- Playing a horse game
- Dancing tango
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES DAY
- Showing pictures and photos about the country and the nice Arabic letters
- Tasting real Arabic food: Kebab, Kabsash (meat and rice)
- Playing memory games with Arabic buildings
- Learning and singing an Arabian song called „Tic, tic, tic seeiman’s Mother” (in English) with a special Arabic shawl ont he head
POLISH DAY
- Learning a few easy steps of Polish folk dance
- A story of Lolek and Bolek
- Making a salt picture about a salt-mine
- Singing the song „I’m a man from Krakow”
- Eating „Bigos” for lunch, then „Krówka” for dessert
- Listening to piano music by Chopin
JORDANIAN DAY
- Greetings in Arabic language, showing how they make prayers
- Ball game in a circle, catcher game, called „Who is the strongest”
- Arabic/Jordanian custumes: the women’s face covered, dressed up in „gown”, men in trousers and shirt
- „Allah is the greatest” song
All the children are welcome for the rest of the week naturally, when the days will be spent with a big variety of fun-filled activities.
